Discover the seed library ("Grainothèque")

Grainothèque

The launch of the seed library in our Environment Library (Arlon campus) was a huge success! With entertainment, books, seed exchanges, chats, and meetings, the opening night on October 17 was a rich and promising start to the project.

How does it work?

Over the past decade, seed libraries have been popping up all over Belgium. Open to everyone, they operate on a barter system, providing a space where citizens can come and collect or deposit seeds. The aim is to reproduce and share seeds from plants that are suited to the local area, and to break free from the seed industry and its excesses. You don't need to have a large vegetable garden or already be harvesting your own seeds to participate!

The library also offers a selection of books on the subject. Feel free to stop by and take a look. The library is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Tuesdays until 8 p.m.

This project is supported by the University of Liège as part of its sustainability policy.
