Spotlight on comic books

08 January 2026
Galerie "Bandes dessinées et romans graphiques"

The comic book collection of the University of Liège libraries now includes more than 3,700 titles, covering a wide range of genres. These comic books are listed in the catalogue and are available for loan or for on-site consultation.

A significant part of the collection is housed in Gembloux, as part of a long-term loan from the student association. All ULiège Library branches nevertheless offer comic books, generally in connection with the disciplines they support. Often located near the Pour ma pause areas, they are easy to access.

To make them easier to find in the catalogue, dedicated thematic galleries have recently been created. They allow users to explore the collection more intuitively, through broad thematic groupings and subcategories.

The categories on offer include, among others:

  • Comic book adaptations
  • (Auto)biographical comics
  • Adventure, fantasy and science fiction comics
  • Historical, documentary and reportage comics
  • Humorous and detective comics
  • Manga, shōnen and graphic novels
  • Environmental comics and Graphic medicine

These new galleries provide a thematic gateway to the collection and invite readers to (re)discover comics as a cultural, documentary or leisure resource within ULiège libraries.
