Council of the EU calls for immediate, transparent and fair open access to academic publications

On May 23, 2023, the Council of the European Union adopted conclusions on the high quality, transparent, open, trustworthy and equitable scholarly publishing.

The interlibrary loan service becomes free

The delivery of books provided by other Belgian libraries, of articles and book chapters is free of charge for the ULiège community (students, faculty, staff members of ULiège or CHU). However, participation may be requested under certain conditions.

While there is now a great deal of agreement between universities and research funding bodies, there are still issues to be resolved: transformative agreements, hybrid journals and APCs.

Open APC

Researchers are paying more and more APC to publish!

When journals require APC (Open Access publication fees) from the author or his institution, it is strongly advised to stay within reasonable amounts and not to exceed the €750 fee ("Fair Gold"), the maximum amount granted by the F.R.S-FNRS for this type of publication. Beyond 750€, it is " Unfair Gold ".

OpenCitations added in ORBi

OpenCitations are now available for publications on ORBi in addition to the Scopus citations. You'll also find them in your publications reports for the articles concerned, along with a specific h-index in the bibliometric synthesis.
